A striking Japanese Emperor Oak (cutleaf oak) with attractive fern-like deeply divided leaves are up to 1' long and 7" wide and are divided into ornamental narrow lobes. The new tiny pink leaves and the green catkins are such a wonderful combination. The cutleaf oak provides a wonderful silhouette against a blue sky. The leaves are the largest of all of the oak trees and they tend to persist on the tree into winter. Quercus dentata Pinnitifida is difficult to propagate which makes it scarce to find.
